The King’s Road: Guided tour to Vindhella

As you ascend the famous hairpin bends, you’ll hear captivating stories about the King’s Road and its construction. Learn about the workers, the use of slave labor, punishment practices, and the intricate details of the road’s design.

Discover why Vindhella was the narrowest passage between east and west in ancient times, likely serving as a strategic control point. See ancient fortifications and perhaps the site of a historical ambush.

After spending time at the top, the guide will return to the stave church. You can choose to join them or continue exploring on your own, descending to Rimskjold or taking the round trip over Sverrestigen back to the stave church. The guide will explain the different routes.
