Trolltunga Sunset Sunrise Tour

Spend the night in an Arctic dome and experience the magic of Trolltunga at dusk and dawn

Imagine standing on Trolltunga, watching the sun rise or set, with no other tourist crowds around — just you and the breathtaking landscape. Our base camp, located away from the main trail, offers a serene setting with a spacious dome tent featuring a see-through ceiling. Enjoy dinner with a view, surrounded by the sounds of Norwegian nature.

Meeting Point and Gear

Meet your guide at the Trolltunga Active base at P2 parking in Skjeggedal. Here, you’ll receive all necessary gear and prepare for the adventure ahead. We take the shuttle bus to P3 to save time and energy (available from June-September, weather permitting).

The Hike

This tour is about taking your time to enjoy the vast landscape. You’ll see numerous mountain lakes, the steep rock faces of Ringedalen valley, and the distant Folgefonna glacier. We make short stops for refreshments and to share information about the area. About 3 km before Trolltunga, we stop at our camp for hot/cold drinks and snacks. You can leave your backpacks here before hiking the last stretch.

At Trolltunga

When we arrive at the “Troll’s tongue,” most hikers are already heading down, so we will get to see this special place without the crowds. Here, we take pictures, explore the surroundings, and simply enjoy our time.

Evening and Overnight

Back at the dome, a delicious dinner awaits. Enjoy conversations, play games, read Norwegian stories, or just observe the colors of the evening skies. After a good sleep in the dome, you wake up to a new morning. You can visit Trolltunga again while your guide prepares breakfast, or sleep in and wake up to fresh coffee.

Return Journey

After breakfast, we pack our stuff and start the hike back to civilization. Normal return time to the starting point is between 14:00 and 15:00 the second day.
