With outdoor activities both on land and in the water, there’s plenty to do for the little ones. Here are some ideas. Explore TrollAktiv Water Park in Evje Photo: Troll Aktiv Located on the lake amongst an abundance of forest, the water park boasts a blob, swing and trampoline, where children can bounce around with abandon! Family rafting trips include admission to the water park, which is not to be missed. River rafting Photo: Troll Aktiv Experience the ups and downs of a roller coaster but on a river. Family river rafting TrollAktiv in Evje is a boatload of fun for the entire family, including children aged six and up who are at least 120 cm. The tour starts after learning some basic skills with your guide, followed by a venture out down the Otra river on still water, where there are some small drops and waves. The entire trip takes up to three hours and can be done between April and October. It’s worth noting that Otra is considered the warmest river in the country, so don’t hold back from getting wet. Stand Up Paddling Photo: Troll Aktiv An excellent way to move around the river is on a stand up paddleboard. TrollAktiv offers SUP sessions that include games, surfing and an opportunity to see how good your children are at balancing as they go down some easy rapids and wave trains. If you’re all feeling a bit lazy, take a trip down the Otra river, or if you’re looking for a little more excitement, try the white water. Get up close with a moose Photo: Ismaele Tortella | Visit Norway Moose rule the forests around here, so don’t miss the opportunity to see one up close and personal. The elk park Elgtun at the Landeskogen Peace Center in Bygland allows visitors to watch moose named Olga, Orvar, Elvira and Frøya during one of their three feeding times. There are also guided tours of the forest daily at 12. Tree Trekking and the Mineral Park Photo: Troll Aktiv Get a bird’s eye view of the forest at the high wire adventure park in Evje. There are a number of different courses depending on your child’s skill level (and confidence), built into trees between 4 – 12 metres high. It’s located right next to the Mineral Park, where you can explore nature’s treasures like minerals and crystals.
