Reindeer Sledding & Sami Cultural Evening

Join us for a magical evening under the Arctic stars at our wilderness center, Camp Tamok. This unique tour begins in Tromsø’s city center, from where a scenic 90-minute bus journey transports you to Camp Tamok. As night falls, the possibility of witnessing the awe-inspiring Northern Lights adds an extra layer of excitement to your adventure.

Upon your arrival, we will outfit you with warm winter clothing and all the necessary gear for an enchanting reindeer sledding experience. With our reindeer herd located a short distance from our lively huskies, your adventure commences with a brief minibus transfer.

Immerse yourself in the rich Sami culture with activities that include a thrilling reindeer sledding adventure under the starlit sky, an engaging introduction to the art of lasso throwing, captivating storytelling about Sami traditions, and the unique opportunity to feed and interact with the reindeer. This cultural journey offers a rare chance to connect with these majestic creatures in a truly spectacular nighttime setting.

After your time with the indigenous Sami people, filled with cultural insights and memorable moments, you will return to the warmth of Camp Tamok. Here, a hot, delicious meal awaits you, served around a crackling open fire in a traditional reindeer herder’s tent. As you relax and soak in the warmth, you’ll have the opportunity to reflect on the evening’s adventures and the mesmerizing beauty of the Arctic night, possibly illuminated by the Northern Lights, before your journey back to the Tromsø city center.

Note: This tour is not primarily centered on seeking out the Northern Lights, but provides great opportunities to experience this natural wonder.

Food and Beverages:
Enjoy a complimentary traditional Norwegian soup or stew, featuring fresh vegetables with your choice of meat or fish. Accompanying your meal are bread, coffee, tea, and water.

What to Bring:
Prepare for the cold by dressing in warm winter clothes and layering to adjust to changing weather conditions. Don’t forget a scarf for extra warmth in colder weather.
