About the trip

Discover the vast Finnmarksvidda, Europe’s largest mountain plateau, by snowmobile. Our adventure begins at a 150-year-old mountain lodge in Gargia Valley, just outside Alta.

After gearing up, we take you along an old postal road to the edge of Finnmarksvidda, through snow-covered forests to expansive mountain plains. Embrace the Arctic wilderness with nothing but snow and sky around you. Learn about the region’s history and Arctic lifestyle from our certified guide, who will also ensure you have an unforgettable adventure.

The tour

Meet us at the Æventyr Adventure Store in the heart of Alta. From here, we travel 25 kilometers to Gargia Valley. Upon arrival at Gargia Lodge, you’ll receive a briefing and be equipped with thermosuits, boots, and gloves.

After a safety introduction, we head to Beskades. Enjoy breathtaking views before we return to Gargia Lodge and then back to the city center, completing the exhilarating experience.

Additional information

• No previous experience needed; just a regular driver’s license.
• Weather may affect the itinerary; safety is our priority.
• Wear warm clothes and bring sunglasses.
• Valid B class driver’s license required to drive. Minimum age for passengers is 12.
• Not recommended for those with back problems or pregnant women.
• A thorough safety introduction and driving instruction will be given before the trip starts. You will ride in pairs, with an opportunity to switch driver and passenger roles during the trip.
