Bergen may be called “the gateway to the fjords,” but Norway’s second largest city is also home to some amazing coastal experiences!
Imagine: a city where colorful houses and historic buildings are framed by serene waters on one side and by 7 majestic mountains on the other. Bergen is as pretty as a postcard, which sometimes makes it difficult to know where to even get started with exploring it.
That’s why this package that combines a tour with 2 nights at a gorgeous hotel in the historic Bryggen area, offers the best of both worlds!
After spending the night at a hotel located in the heart of Bergen it is time to go on the tour that suits you best.
This package allows you to choose freely between 3 different tours:
- Cruising through narrow straits to idyllic islands on an island hopping tour to Bulandet.
- Visiting the historical Skjerjehamn harbor on a half day tour.
- Going on a relaxing cruise on Sognefjord and exploring the fjord village of Vik.
If you go on the island-hopping tour, you get to visit remote island communities and travel with a historical postal boat. You can rent a bike on Bulandet island, buy a freshly made waffle at Gåsvær and snap photos of beautiful rock formations and small islands that you travel by.
The trip to Skjerjehamn takes you to a quiet island gem. Walk around, explore, and relax on this halfway trip. Enjoy a heart shaped waffle and freshly brewed coffee.
The Sognefjord cruise to Vik takes you to the fjord village of Vik. Although small it has a lot to offer its visitors. You get a guided tour at a beautiful stave church, sample locally made cheese and the chance to explore the historical wooden buildings that make up the city center. A bonus is the sight of Norway’s largest and deepest fjord as you journey through the majestic Sognefjord.
2 nights Scandic Torget Bergen located in the heart of town is included. Because of its location overlooking the historical wharf, it allows you to easily access and explore the city.
Don’t miss this chance to experience Bergen’s coastline! The choice on how to experience it, is yours. Whatever you choose, you’ll have an unforgettable time!
Vik fjord village
Vik is beautifully located on the southern shore of the Sognefjord. The charming fjord village is home to Hopperstad Stave Church.
Hopperstad Stave Church
You get to step inside this historic church that was built in 1130, almost 900 years ago.
Skjerjehamn
In the early 1900s, Skjerjehamn was one of the largest harbors on the Westcoast of Norway.
Coastal adventure
Centrally located on the west coast of Norway, traveling by boat from Bergen makes good sense. An added bonus is the excitement of traveling along the coast
Postal Boat
There's no better way to explore the narrow waters on the western coastline of Norway than on the postal boat. Listen to stories about the tiny communities living in the area, all told by the experienced captain.
Help deliver mail
The postal boat deliver mail to the few permanent residents that live on the islands of Bulandet and Værlandet.
Bulandet and Værlandet
Bulandet consists of about 300 islands and islets, with people living on 15 of them. Nordsjøporten road (The Gateway of the North Sea) beautifully links several of the islands by bridges. The name Bulandet originates from the norwegian word for boathouse
