Dominating the landscape of Godøya island, which is located outside Ålesund, Storhornet is a must-visit destination for hikers. Setting off from Alnes lighthouse, after the first ridge, you’ll go north of Alnesvatnet. On your way, you’ll pass by the Johan Skytt, a slab of rock that protrudes from the mountain. A perfect spot for Instagrammable photos.
From the top of Storhornet, 360° views of the Atlantic Ocean, the scenic port town of Ålesund and the Sunnmøre Alps will unfold before your eyes. You’ll have enough time to take a rest, immerse in the scenery and capture the landscape with your lens.
Alnes
Alnes is a small village located on the north side of Godøya island. From the highest point of the tour you have a panoramic view of the village.
Alnes Lighthouse
Alnes lighthouse is a popular sight for visitors to Ålesund. The iconic lighthouse was built in 1852 to guide fishing boats safely into the harbor of Alnes.
Ålesund
Storhornet is located on Godøya, just a short drive from Ålesund. On days with nice weather you can see the contours of the beautiful art nouveau city from the top of Storhornet.

Meeting Point
The hike starts at Alnes Lighthouse. If you don’t have a car we can arrange a shuttle from the activity center to the starting point for an extra cost.
