Fjærlandsfjord and glacier tour from Voss

Guided tour from Voss through stunning landscapes, cultural landmarks, and natural wonders

Experience a scenic cruise along the Fjærlandsfjord, take in the breathtaking views from Storesvingen, explore the Stave Church in Vik, marvel at the Bøyabreen Glacier and witness the majestic Tvindefossen Waterfall on this guided tour starting from Voss.

The tour starts by minibus just across the street of the Tourist Information in Voss.

Leaving Voss behind, the mini bus drives for the village of Vik, traversing the elevated Vikafjell mountain pass. Amidst this high-altitude journey, breathtaking landscapes await, and snow may be spotted near the roadway, even during summer months.

Descending from Vikafjell to Vik, we pause at the “Storesvingen” viewpoint, roughly an hour from Voss. This stop provides unparalleled photographic views of Vik and the majestic Sognefjorden.

Once back on the bus, we descend to Vik, a village with lots of cultural heritage. A highlight of Vik is the Hopperstad Stave Church, dating back to 1130 and among the oldest of its kind. We’ll stop here for 30 minutes, offering a chance for a guided visit or independent exploration of the church, with tours available in English and Norwegian, included in your ticket.

The journey then continues to the harbor of Vik, where we embark on a 2-hour fjord cruise to Fjærland. The boat features comfortable indoor seating and outdoor decks for enjoying the scenery, along with a café serving a selection of light meals and drinks (at additional cost).

Crossing the deep and long Sognefjord, we enter the picturesque Fjærlandsfjord, flanked by towering mountains, leading to the village of Fjærland. Explore this village by foot or join a guided excursion to the glacier and the Norwegian Glacier Museum, with two hours to enjoy at leisure.

The Norwegian Glacier Museum, included in your ticket, is a family-friendly interactive museum that presents glaciers and climate change in innovative ways.

Next, the bus takes us closer to the Bøyabreen glacier, a part of the Jostedalsbreen glacier, allowing for photo opportunities and a chance to witness the glacier’s impact on the landscape up close.

After visiting the glacier, we return to Fjærland quay to catch our boat back to Vik, and then continue by bus to the magnificent Tvindefossen waterfall. Standing at 110 meters tall, the waterfall offers a spectacle as visitors can approach its thundering waters closely.

Our journey concludes with a return trip to Voss, arriving back at 19:00, filled with memories of Norway’s stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage.

Both the bus and boat are equipped with ramps that accommodate electric and manual wheelchairs, ensuring accessibility for all travelers. To utilize the wheelchair ramps, reservations must be made at least 48 hours before departure.
